<p> The School Games Curriculum Competition received excellent entries from budding young sports reporters and photographers from across the country. Now, the winners of the media categories are preparing for an exciting 5 day media camp in London, where they will receive training from the S2R team and industry professionals ready to cover all the action at the School Games in the Excel centre and the Olympic Park from Monday 7th &#8211; Wednesday 9th May. </p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>The Sainsbury&#8217;s 2012 School Games is a multi-sport event for the UK&#8217;s elite young athletes of school age. Around 1,600 young athletes will be competing with up to 35,000 spectators cheering them on. It will be the last event to be held on the Olympic Park before the opening ceremony on 27 July.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>The young reporters will be creating daily video reports mentored by media professionals; meeting the star athletes of tomorrow and telling the story of the games from behind the scenes, with a professional sports photographer mentoring the photography team to capture the action.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>All the reports and photographs will be posted to the School Games network on Radiowaves, the safe social network for schools, and also be featured on a live events page set up especially for the School Games by http:// BBC School Report.</p>

<p>Projects Director Lucy Neale feels that ?The 2012 School Games is a fantastic opportunity for young people to take their media skills to the next level at such a high profile event. We are honored to be working with the Media Volunteers to give them expert skills to tell the story of the games from their perspective, and inspire them to continue their sports reporting back at school.?</p>

<p>&#8220;Paying for school is hard for a lot of people,&#8221; says Andria Strandin, one of taj salon &amp; spa&#8217;s owners. &#8220;We just want to help change someone&#8217;s life, someone who has the same interests and passion that we do.&#8221;</p>

<p>What does such a person look like? Meet Joel Calfee. Today he is a platform artist and the National Business Development Manager for Bio Ionic?. Before attending the Aveda Institute in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area, Joel was working in an unfulfilling job for an automotive company. The Aveda Institute presented Joel with a new beginning; one in which he could be part of something bigger, something sustainable. </p>

<p>Joel expected some hardships in choosing to attend school at the age of 28. He couldn&#8217;t quit his job; he was married and owned a house. He also had an hour-long commute from work to school forcing him to choose the Institute&#8217;s part-time program, which would take longer to complete. Wanting a better option, he applied for a scholarship?a contest he won?and was able to quit his job and attend the Institute full time. </p>

<p>?Aveda Institute allowed me to switch directions in my life. Without the scholarship, I might not have had that opportunity,&#8221; says Joel. ?Grooming is ingrained in people. It?s important to most of us and cosmetology is the last service that lets you really touch someone, make a difference in how they look and feel.?</p>

<p> The average cost of a wedding in the UK has continued to decline for the second year in a row, dropping to less than ?14,500. This represents a decrease of 10% on last year&#8217;s figures, and is based on a survey of over 1,600 wedding insurance policies purchased through CompareWeddingInsurance.org.uk to cover weddings taking place this year.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Figures show that the average cost of a 2012 wedding is now ?11,441, with an additional ?3,000 being spent on the honeymoon, bringing the total cost of a wedding in the UK to ?14,441. Of this sum the biggest expenditure is the reception, costing around ?4,000, with the bride&#8217;s dress, the rings, photographer and flowers all adding large sums to the overall cost.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Analysis of the figures released by CompareWeddingInsurance.org.uk reveal that couples in London are still spending significantly more, at around 42% above the national average, with those in the North spending up to 12% less than the average. The lowest cost weddings are currently in Northern Ireland where the average spend is 16% below the average at ?12,666.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>Adam Leyton, Managing Director of CompareWeddingInsurance.org.uk said, &#8220;Couples are still wanting that dream wedding, and we&#8217;re seeing a greater number of people now being more savvy than before, either shopping around for the best deals or even going down the DIY route and crafting some things themselves.&#8221;</p>

<p>With the UK&#8217;s economy continuing to place growing pressure on families, and with the threat of a double dip recession, it is perhaps hardly surprising that so many people are cutting back on their wedding plans. The good news though is that more people planning their wedding are now taking out wedding insurance earlier than before. The average time when most people purchase their wedding insurance policy is now 9 months before the wedding day itself, which given the present unsettled financial and business climate is essential.</p>
<p>&#13;</p>
<p>As many venues, photography services, florists, dress makers and caterers have been forced out of business during the past few years as a result of the long term economic downturn, it is a positive sign to see so many more people now opting to include wedding insurance on their wedding planning list. With a basic policy starting from around ?20 and covering virtually every aspect of the wedding, it is a sensible option to consider when investing in what for most people is the third most expensive purchase in their lifetime.</p>

<p>&#8220;Without wedding insurance most couples have no backup plan should unforeseen costs or problems occur,&#8221; said Adam Leyton.</p>

<p>&#8220;Many people believe that credit card protection schemes, home insurance and health insurance policies will help rescue the day should things go wrong, but experience has shown that this is certainly not the case, with only a very small proportion of the costs involved covered by such policies.&#8221;</p>

<p>?VITA?s new approach toward modernizing eGov clearly allows government customers more flexibility and choice as they take steps to increase efficiencies and lower costs,? Atkinson said.</p>

<p>?This effort will also help them improve the way they manage and protect their data as well as their means of interacting and doing business with their constituents.?</p>

<p>Atkinson said AISN intends to offer its Commonwealth customers a range of cost-efficient hosted services, including private cloud, public cloud and hybrid cloud solutions as well as managed hosting and colocation.  Built to meet the needs of both commercial enterprises and federal agencies, AISN offers state-of-the-art Tier III and Tier IV data centers and an industry-leading team of professionals.</p>

<p>AISN?s contract award followed an in-depth, multi-agency evaluation of responses to VITA?s three requests for proposals (RFPs) for eGov services last November. The awards were made based upon demonstrated, measurable benefit to the Commonwealth and contract users. AISN is one of three pre-qualified suppliers for hosting services to the Commonwealth.</p>

<p>Hosting is a new category within VITA?s statewide contracts portfolio. According to VITA, this designation ?allows all public entities to compare the contracts, make the most appropriate business choice and utilize the pre-negotiated terms and conditions of the contracts to realize efficiencies.
